SARAH HALL

Sarah began her true interest in dance at the age of 14 with Ludus Dance Company, based in Lancaster. One year later, she became an original member of Ludus Youth Dance Company and remained with the company for 4 years, working with exceptional choreographers, developing her technical and creative experience of contemporary dance and performing at dance platforms across England. Sarah went on to study at a higher level, receiving a First Class BA (Hons) in Dance from University of Leeds, completing her first year at Middlesex University. During her studies, Sarah focused on choreographic exploration and the digital dance sector. A main strand of the course was to regularly work with artists of other disciplines, resulting in a collaborative performance production in her third year with theatre designers, musicians and theatre practitioners. This collaborative method of working is something Sarah still holds as valuable to date.

After graduating, Sarah gained Qualified Teacher Status in Secondary education whilst embarking as a freelancer, working with Ludus Dance, local authorities, schools and community groups. She worked as an employed member of the creative team at Ludus Dance for a year following her teacher training which truly established her connection to community dance and choreographing for performance within community settings. Sarah now works part time as a Dance Development Officer for Blackpool Council, developing contemporary dance opportunities for young people.

Sarah’s independent practice has seen her work with people of all ages and abilities and people from a range of social backgrounds. She specialises in work with/for young people and INSET training for teachers. The vibrancy of her experience has inspired her choreographic work, often drawing upon people, their lives, their spaces and the pedestrian happenings to create performance work.
